Children's Pastor Claire joined the Journey staff in September of 1998. As children’s pastor, her primary responsibility is to shepherd the children from birth through fifth grade. Claire and her team, work together to provide weekend and weekday classes and programs that minister to the children and their parents. Some of her other responsibilities include child dedication, discipleship, preparing elementary age children for baptism, staff liaison for MOPS and our Wednesday night AWANA program. Additionally, Claire is active in working with other staff on special events. It was Christmas 1987, when Claire and her husband were invited to Journey. They have been faithfully attending and actively involved ever since. During that time Claire was active in the Awana program directing the Awana Cubbies (preschool) club of 72 children. She volunteered and taught various age and grade levels in Sunday School, and served as part of the women’s leadership core, teaching women's small group Bible studies. Now, on staff, she continues her education by reading books on leadership and attending conferences that challenge her personally and professionally. Claire graduated with honors from California State University of Long Beach in 1987. She is a Physical Therapist, licensed to practice in the state of California. Her college studies include courses in child development and psychology. She served as a pediatric intern prior to accepting a position at Little Company of Mary Hospital, where she worked for nine years. As senior therapist at the hospital, she served on numerous committees, developed policies and training procedures, participated in medical seminars and was a public speaker in the South Bay. She also has six years of accounting experience. Both Claire and her husband Jim have been members of Journey since 1988. Their three children were dedicated at Journey, accepted Christ and have been baptized.
