By now we hope you have become familiar with our campus, ministries, and have connected with our church community. What really makes us a church, however, is not just associating with a church, but belonging to one another, becoming an authentic church community. This belonging process begins with a simple commitment to being a participating member of Journey of Faith. Why become a member at Journey of Faith? 1. Membership is a Biblical concept. First of all, we believe that the concept of membership is biblical. While the term “church member” is not used in the Bible, the concept is implicit throughout the New Testament. Believers clearly identified themselves with a specific local body and were challenged to become devoted participants of that community of faith. 2. Membership enables leaders’ commitment to care. Through a clear membership process, church leaders are better able to shepherd, teach, resource and guide those who joined their congregations. Many observers, guests and visitors come to Journey of Faith, but not all are ready to join or invest in our community yet. 3. Membership benefits the individual as well as the community. Most importantly, we believe that personal identification and commitment to a church community benefits the individual leading to spiritual growth. What is the Membership Process? 1. The first step is to attend the Journey of Faith Membership class. The two session class is offered 4-5 five times a year. 2. Complete the Membership application. In addition to the application a personal interview will be arranged with someone from the pastoral staff or leadership team to go over your application and to answer any of your questions or concerns. 3. The next step in the Membership process is the “Affirmation” process where members are confirmed and celebrated. 4.The final step is to be acknowledged and welcomed in the services about 3-4 weeks from the date of the class.
