Eligibility & Application

Everyone is welcome to apply for a mission trip, even if you aren’t a member of Journey of Faith.

Once you’ve decided to participate in a mission trip, download and complete an application. Submit the application to your trip leader with a $25 refundable deposit paid online (in the 1st drop down menu, select the mission trip you will be joining; then in the 2nd drop down menu, select “Deposit”) or by check payable to Journey of Faith.

Some trips may also require an interview by the trip leader or additional qualifications for approval.

After approval, you must pass a LiveScan background check. Email  to set an appointment.

Journey of Faith encourages trip participants to consider U.S. State Department travel advisories before applying for a mission trip.

Travel Documents & Immunizations

For trips that make a stop outside of the United States and U.S. territories, you will need a current passport that is valid 6 months beyond the trip’s return date.

Because it can take several months, please prioritize obtaining or renewing your passport, as expedite fees can be costly.

Some trips also require an additional visa application and/or tourist card, which will be explained by your trip leader.

Journey of Faith encourages trip participants to follow vaccination recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control. Medical and logistical costs due to illness during the trip are your personal responsibility.

Finances & Fundraising

Posted trip costs include lodging, meals, and transportation. Additional spending money and personal supplies are your own extra responsibility.

Trip participants are expected to cover the posted cost via personal funds or donations.

Journey of Faith encourages participants to fund posted costs by writing letters asking friends and family for spiritual and financial support, so they can play an active role in your mission experience. Your trip leader will provide guidance on how to do this.

Donations that are applied to your posted share are tax-deductible, and should be made payable to Journey of Faith.

Some trips will hold team fundraisers.

Scholarships are available, and all participants are welcome to apply (See page 3 of the Short-term Mission Application).

Preparation & Attendance

To provide the best mission experience to you, our missionary partners and the people you’ll meet, each mission trip teams meet 2-7 times before departure to prepare logistically, culturally, spiritually etc. Teams also meet for a homecoming debrief after the trip.

Trip participants are required to attend these meetings and may have tasks in between.

Code of Conduct

The Short-term Mission Application includes Journey of Faith’s Behavior Guidelines, which details recommendations about activities in the mission field. Trip participants are asked to read and agree to these standards.
