In a growing church with four services, it is difficult to find and connect with other like-minded singles. Momentum, a group for singles in their 40's and beyond, was formed in 2010 with the hope that those interested would be able to grow together in God's Word, make new friends, and form community within our church.
Over the years, our group has participated in varied service projects both within the church and outside. To name a few: feeding the homeless on Skid Row, Salvation Army Red Kettle collection drives, and participating in Feed My Starving Children. We have also hosted many Red Cross Blood Drives at Journey¬. We have parties throughout the year especially our Thanksgiving Dinner and our Christmas and Valentine's Day parties. We have a fun time with Valentine's parties and BBQ's in the summer. These activities help us to live out our faith, strengthen the friendships within the group, and demonstrate God's love to others.
We have enjoyed Bible studies over the years with different teachers from within our group and outside guest speakers. We have also found that many DVD studies dealing with boundaries and conflict have been helpful to our group as we learn how the Lord wants us to manage our relationships and grow us at the same time. Also, a series we did on how to love one another really made an impact on how we are intentional about our faith.
Within the last 7 years, most of us in Momentum have truly become family as we work through conflicts, trials, and joyous occasions in each other's lives. We continue to be open and enjoy the blessings of exactly what Momentum was created for: community. We hope in the years forward to reach out to other singles who are like minded in wanting to grow closer to our heavenly Father and to each other as we walk through our journey of faith together.
Please join Momentum at their upcoming Sweet & Greet Sunday, March 25 from 11am to noon.
